Firm Argued Negligence To Be Cause Of Death For Woman Who Died From Complications Weeks After Medical Procedure

CHICAGO - Feb. 7, 2019 - illiNews -- A Cook County jury has awarded $3.5 million to the family of a woman who died due to complications following an endovascular procedure. The jury concluded that Margaryta Kutik died as a result of negligence on the part of the defendant, Dr. Victor Aletich. Kutik experienced severe bleeding after undergoing a procedure to alleviate symptoms associated with an aneurysm behind her right eye. Aletich's failure to remove the patient from anticoagulant medication contributed to prolonged bleeding which resulted in multiple organ failures and her death.

"There is no compensation that will ease the pain and suffering endured by Ms. Kutik and her family due to the negligent behavior of a trusted medical professional," said Mr. Axelrod. "However, this verdict at least provides the family with a final resolution. It is a validation of justice for the preventable suffering experienced by their mother and wife."
