LOS ANGELES, May 6, 2024 ~ GrayMatter Robotics, a leading company in AI-Robotics, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Automate Innovation Award in the Systems category. This recognition is for their revolutionary SCAN&GRIND™ robotic system, which utilizes a proprietary physics-based advanced technology to enhance manufacturing systems and surface finishing applications.
The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) President, Jeff Burnstein, expressed his excitement about GrayMatter Robotics' achievement. "I am thrilled to see that GrayMatter Robotics has been awarded our first ever A3 Innovation Award for Systems for their Scan&Grind Solution," said Burnstein. He also shared how he was impressed by the founders of GrayMatter Robotics, Ariyan Kabir and Brual Shah, when he first met them at USC in SK Gupta's lab.
The Automate Innovation Awards recognize automation solutions that have made a significant impact on the market and have pushed technological boundaries. GrayMatter's SCAN&GRIND™ stood out to the judges due to its exceptional performance in key criteria such as technological innovation, impact on ROI, productivity, quality and efficiency, sustainability and environmental impact, user-friendliness and accessibility, and market adoption and scalability.

One of the key features of SCAN&GRIND™ is its use of GrayMatter's proprietary GMR-AI technology. This enables self-programming and eliminates complex setup processes. The robot also works eight times faster than humans, significantly boosting production and addressing manufacturing backlogs. Additionally, it helps businesses achieve sustainability goals by reducing consumable waste by 30-50% and energy consumption by 26%.
Another notable aspect of SCAN&GRIND™ is its user-friendly interface that empowers operators with no prior robotics experience to operate the system. This reduces training time from six months to just one day. The robot-as-a-service (RaaS) model also makes it a scalable solution for both Fortune 100 companies and small and medium-sized businesses.
Ariyan Kabir, CEO of GrayMatter Robotics, expressed his gratitude for the award and shared the company's mission. "This award is a testament to our dedication to developing automation solutions that not only significantly boost productivity but also prioritize the well-being of the workforce," said Kabir. "At GrayMatter, we are on a mission to enhance productivity and improve the quality of life for workers. The ultimate goal is to reimagine the future of manufacturing and create a win-win dynamic for businesses and their employees."
