John Robert Powers Alum Dakota Johnson Stars in Verity, in Theaters October 2

CHICAGO - illiNews -- John Robert Powers (JRP) alum Dakota Johnson stars opposite Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett in Verity, the Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling psychological thriller, opening in theaters Friday, October 2, 2026. JRP Virtual, A Casting Call, Inc. Company, is celebrating the release as part of its ongoing recognition of performers who got their start at JRP.

In Verity, Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer hired to ghostwrite for celebrated author Verity Crawford (Hathaway). After Lowen moves into the remote Crawford estate, she uncovers what appear to be Verity's autobiographical notes, and their disturbing confessions about Verity's husband, Jeremy (Hartnett), make it hard for her to tell fiction from reality. Michael Showalter (The Idea of You) directs, and Johnson also serves as an executive producer. Amazon MGM Studios is releasing the film wide in theaters in the United States and Canada, and Sony Pictures Releasing International is handling the release outside North America. The film is rated R.
