RALEIGH, N.C. - illiNews -- The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) announced today that they are seeking ten pilot schools to participate in Phase II of their pilot with Intuit, maker of TurboTax, QuickBooks and Mint, titled "Financial Management for Entrepreneurs Curriculum." The main goal of this pilot between NACCE and Intuit is to empower future entrepreneurs with the right financial management tools and skills required for long-term business success.
"We are delighted with the outstanding results from the initial Intuit pilot and are confident that this curriculum will bolster student success for would-be entrepreneurs who will play a key role in restarting the United States economy," says Dr. Rebecca Corbin, President and CEO of NACCE.
Phase I of this pilot began in 2018 with Dr. Andy Gold, professor at Hillsborough Community College, leading the curriculum development for this initiative. Six pilot schools were chosen from the NACCE membership and piloted this online modular curriculum in their for-credit classes. The curriculum has been redesigned, refreshed and expanded based on feedback from the pilot participants and will be ready to re-launch this fall 2020.
"During Phase I of this pilot, I was able to see first-hand how extremely impactful this curriculum has been on the lives of our students. It has made learning about financial management far more relatable and meaningful," states Gold.

For Phase II, ten additional pilot schools will be chosen through a Request for Applications (RFA) process to test the online modular curriculum in their for-credit course offerings. To support this phase of the initiative, Intuit will provide a $1,000 stipend for participating colleges, as well as professional development opportunities including but not limited to a full scholarship to NACCE 2020 from October 11-14, 2020 in Nashville, TN. Intuit is committed to increasing career readiness and helping students build a prosperous future by developing 21st century skills through entrepreneurship and personal finance education.
"At Intuit, we know that many small businesses fail within their first five years and we work tirelessly to help entrepreneurs and small business owners survive and thrive for the long haul," said Dave Zasada, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Intuit. "Together with NACCE, we are able to create a curriculum that provides future entrepreneurs with the real-world skills needed to build and maintain a successful future."
