NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The race for the 2027 Naperville municipal election is officially underway as of Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The Community Services Department at the Naperville Municipal Center, located at 400 S. Eagle St., has made petitions for candidacy available to interested individuals.
According to the department, these petitions can be circulated for signature starting on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The upcoming election will see the positions of Mayor and four City Council members up for grabs, each with a four-year term.
To be eligible to run for office, candidates must be registered voters of the City of Naperville and have lived within its corporate limits for at least one year. Petitions for nomination must be filed with the Community Services Department during the designated filing period from Monday, October 19, 2026 to Monday, October 26, 2026 (excluding weekends).

In the event that there are more than 16 candidates running for City Council or four candidates running for Mayor, a Consolidated Primary Election will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2027. The Consolidated Election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 6, 2027.
