~ The Naperville Police Department has announced that they are now accepting applications for their 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA) program. The program, which will begin on September 2, aims to give citizens a deeper understanding of the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives.
According to Police Chief Jason Arres, the academy will consist of classroom lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations covering various aspects of police work such as patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response. The fall course will meet every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Ave. The last session will be held on November 4.
Chief Arres also stated that participants are often surprised by how much they learn about the department and the services they provide. He added that the academy allows participants to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to serve and protect the community.

Due to limited space and the nature of the course content and activities, only 30 participants will be accepted. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either reside or work in the City of Naperville. Applications will be considered in the order they are received and a criminal background check will be conducted on each applicant.
Interested individuals can find the Citizen Police Academy application and waiver on the city's website at www.naperville.il.us/cpa. The completed documents must be returned no later than Thursday, July 30 via email to Jim Pacetti at PacettiJ@naperville.il.us or through fax or mail to the Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Avenue.
The Citizen Police Academy is a valuable opportunity for citizens to gain insight into law enforcement and become more involved in their community's safety. Don't miss out on this chance to learn from experienced professionals in a hands-on setting. Apply now before it's too late!
