NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 911 call at 3:57 p.m. reporting an odor of smoke inside a residence on Williamsburg Drive. The ECC immediately dispatched two fire suppression vehicles to the scene.
Upon arrival, the responding units completed a thorough survey of the structure and established command. They found smoke and a small active fire in the attic of the residential building. Thankfully, all occupants had safely evacuated before the arrival of emergency services.
The alarm was then elevated to a full still response, with two engines, one truck, one medic and two battalion vehicles being dispatched to the scene. Fire suppression companies worked quickly to extinguish the fire and conduct ventilation operations. They also searched for any signs of fire extension and ensured that all remaining life safety concerns were addressed.

After successfully extinguishing the fire, crews continued to overhaul the affected area and extinguish any smoldering embers to prevent any further hazards. The Naperville Police Department also provided assistance on the scene.
According to initial investigations, the cause of the fire was deemed unintentional. The estimated damage to both the residence and its contents was $100,000. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters.
The homeowner was able to return to their habitable residence after it was deemed safe by authorities. The swift response and efficient actions of emergency services helped contain the situation and prevent any further damage or injuries.
