~ Naperville's National Night Out festivities are quickly approaching, and residents are urged to save the date and join in on the local events planned for this celebration of community spirit and efforts against crime. This annual event, also known as "America's Night Out Against Crime," is held on the first Tuesday of August each year. It aims to raise awareness about drug prevention and crime, encourage support and participation in local anti-crime initiatives, and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community.
On Monday, August 5th, a free community kick-off celebration will take place at the Fry Family YMCA located at 2120 95th St. in Naperville. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature games, giveaways, and activities for all ages including a bounce house, a magic show, and an opportunity to interact with police personnel and equipment. Food trucks will also be available for those looking to grab a bite to eat. The highlight of the evening will be a free outdoor showing of Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" at sunset. Free popcorn will be provided while supplies last, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets for the movie. This event is made possible by the joint efforts of the City of Naperville, Fry Family YMCA, Dick's Sporting Goods, Trader Joe's, Hollywood Palms, and Target.
