NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville's bulk curbside leaf collection program is scheduled to begin Oct. 19, with three collection cycles planned over six weeks, weather permitting, the city said.
Residents should rake leaves into the street beside the curb by 6 a.m. on the first day of each cycle: Oct. 19, Nov. 2 and Nov. 16. Crews will collect leaves once in front of each home during each cycle. Completing a citywide cycle is expected to take about two weeks, depending on weather. The program is scheduled to conclude Nov. 25.
The city said an interactive map at naperville.il.us/leafcollection will show collection progress. Residents can also sign up for leaf updates through Naper Notify by selecting the Brush and Leaf Collection category.
The city advises residents to keep leaves away from storm drains and avoid parking on leaf piles. Piles should contain leaves only; branches, rocks and other debris can damage collection equipment. Residents are asked to rake leaves out for every cycle, even if they have only a small amount.

Rain, snow or freezing conditions could delay or end curbside collection early, the city said, and it cannot guarantee collection on a specific day. If the program ends before all leaves are collected, residents can use the city's free bagged leaf and yard waste program. After the final curbside cycle, remaining leaves must be disposed of through that program or reused for landscaping.
The free bagged collection program is scheduled to run from Nov. 2 through Dec. 11. During that period, residents may place yard waste, including leaves, in 32-gallon paper bags, clearly marked 32-gallon trash cans or clearly marked two-wheeled carts without yard waste stickers. Items must be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the resident's regular trash collection day.
Before Nov. 2, each bag, can or cart requires a yard waste sticker. Bundled branches and other yard waste materials always require a sticker, the city said.
All yard waste collection, including the city's Yard Waste/Organics Collection Program and Food Scrap Composting drop-off program, is scheduled to end Dec. 11 and resume March 15, 2027. The city said street sweeping will begin after curbside leaf collection ends, weather permitting.
