Smellavision explores a new dimension of immersive entertainment by coordinating aromas with television, movies, gaming, cooking programs, and other content.
CHICAGO - illiNews -- Smellavision, a patented aroma-generating and dispensing concept, is designed to introduce another sensory element to entertainment: smell.
While modern entertainment experiences increasingly combine sophisticated visuals, audio, and interactive technology, Smellavision explores the possibility of adding corresponding aromas to the experience.
Gaming represents one potential application. During a racing game, for example, an aroma associated with burning rubber could accompany the on-screen action, adding another layer of immersion.
The concept also extends beyond gaming. A viewer watching a cooking program could experience a corresponding aroma when an ingredient such as garlic is introduced. Movies, television programs, nature content, and other forms of entertainment may provide additional applications.
