With foreclosure rates quietly rising, 4Closure Rescue is launching a proactive campaign to inform homeowners of their rights and resources before it's too late.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - illiNews -- Despite strong home prices and steady housing demand, a growing number of homeowners are slipping behind on mortgage payments—and many don't know it until they receive a legal notice. In response, 4Closure Rescue, a Chicago-based homeowner advocacy group, has announced a new outreach initiative aimed at educating households before they reach the point of foreclosure.
Founded by homeowner advocate David Litt, 4Closure Rescue has spent the last several years assisting individuals and families in understanding the foreclosure process and their available options. The group's new initiative focuses on early-stage intervention, delivering practical resources to communities where missed payments and financial hardship are becoming more common.

"We're finding that a large portion of homeowners in distress aren't dealing with subprime loans or reckless spending," said Litt. "They're facing temporary setbacks—job loss, medical issues, or escalating costs—and they don't realize they can take action before it's too late."
The outreach campaign will include:
The organization stresses that timing is everything. "By the time a foreclosure notice is taped to the door, the options have narrowed drastically," said Litt. "We want to help people act when there's still time to fix things."
4Closure Rescue's initiative arrives at a critical moment. While national foreclosure numbers remain below pre-2008 levels, recent data shows a steady uptick in pre-foreclosure filings, particularly in urban and working-class suburbs.

"There's a misconception that equity alone protects homeowners," Litt adds. "But if someone can't access that equity or refinance in time, they're still vulnerable. We're trying to change that outcome—one household at a time."
The campaign will first roll out in the greater Chicago region and expand into other Midwest cities throughout the fall.
