Couple to wed in public West Bottoms ceremony after winning dream wedding the week prior
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - May 13, 2019 - illiNews -- Planning for a wedding is often a year in the making but for one couple they will have one week. The winning pair will be announced May 31 chosen from video submissions telling their love story and why they should be picked to win a dream wedding. Their public ceremony will take place Sunday, June 9 in the West Bottoms, where visitors can watch the magical wedding under the 12th St. Bridge during the phase of June's Strawberry Moon.
Events in West Bottoms First Friday weekend will bring "happily ever after" feelings, June 7-9 with the "Brides in the Bottoms" theme. Wedding veils will fly, toasts raised, and stores will sparkle with their showcase of décor and gifts to add wedding bliss. The weekend also includes "Say I Do Vintage Bridal Fair" to be hosted on Sunday from 12-4 at the Rumely Event Space. Wedding professionals with a range of services will be located throughout the district and fashion shows will pop-up throughout the weekend.

"We'll have memories in the making all over the district for the Brides in the Bottoms – West Bottoms' First Friday Weekend with a real wedding - plus visitors get to watch, sample, and select for their own special day," said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, West Bottoms district spokesperson known as the Queen of the West Bottoms. "Think of all the 'I Do' moments with irresistible places to shop and enjoy. We'll be making music with BQ Ocean Blu band on site and DJ Sala Still too."
Festival of the Full Moon First Friday Weekends will have a new theme each month and a nod to the month's moon as well. June's moon is the "Strawberry Moon" and thus visitors will also have chocolate dipped strawberry treats available. A Blushing Bride specialty cocktail will be available at the street bars and tasty treats at the Food Truck Wine & Dine options throughout the historic district.

The West Bottoms Historic Entertainment District, located just off the 12th Street Bridge has 22 warehouses in a thirteen-block area with approximately 600 vendors and more than 25 stores and restaurants.
