CHICAGO ~ Chicago Launches New Website to Showcase Transformative Impact of Road to Recovery Plan

Today, Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Office of Budget and Management (OBM) announced the launch of the City of Chicago ARPA Information Hub, a new website dedicated to providing comprehensive information on the Road to Recovery Plan. This website features interactive dashboards and detailed information on all 50 community programs, showcasing the transformative impact of the plan across Chicago.

According to Mayor Johnson, this website fulfills a promise made when the Road to Recovery Plan was launched in April of this year. The goal is to provide a high level of transparency around this historic initiative, which aims to invest $576 million in one-time funds into Chicago's people, communities, and businesses while ensuring sustainability post-ARPA. With the new website, visitors can access interactive dashboards and see exactly how these funds are being utilized to transform underserved and disinvested communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier this year, Mayor Johnson released the 2024 Road to Recovery Plan Performance Report, which outlined the use of $1.887 billion in federal funds aimed at uplifting Chicago's most vulnerable communities. This report highlighted the progress made during the first full year of his administration's oversight of these funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Now, with the City's new website, residents can access more detailed information about plan spending and track progress on SLFRF-funded programs. It is important to note that these funds must be fully obligated by December 31, 2024 and fully expended by December 31, 2026.

City Budget Director Annette Guzman emphasized that this website reflects significant collaboration across all departments in providing transparency as they work towards spending these ARPA dollars wisely and effectively. Visitors can see how every dollar has been allocated and spent on critical recovery services in their communities.

The City of Chicago ARPA Information Hub features an overview dashboard that displays spending across all six Policy Pillars, as well as a dashboard showing actual spend over time to track progress towards 100% obligation and 100% spend by U.S. Treasury deadlines. Additionally, the website includes pages dedicated to each Policy Pillar, with a financial dashboard, program descriptions, links to services, and various content showcasing impact such as photos, videos, impact statements, and spotlight metrics. The dashboards will be updated quarterly with the latest financial data and all source data will be available in the Open Data Portal. The website will also feature additional content and impact data as programs progress, as well as quarterly and annual reporting required by the U.S. Treasury.
