NORTHBROOK, Ill. - illiNews -- Gun Toten'n Mamas will donate a portion of proceeds from its sales of concealed carry purses and bags, which kicks off before the Memorial Day weekend, to the US Army Women's Museum. The sale runs from May 25 to May 31. The company's fine line of more than 200 items will be included, with the added benefit of support for this historic museum showing women's significant military contributions to this great country.
As the only museum in the world dedicated to Army women, it originally opened in 1955 at Fort McClellan, Alabama. Called the Women's Army Corps (WAC) Museum, the museum has morphed throughout the years into a new name and a new place – the US Army Women's Museum, located at Ft. Lee in Richmond, Virginia. Its mission is to "conserve and preserve a repository of artifacts and archives pertaining to the service of women in the U.S. Army."
Retired Army Master Sgt. Gloria Krauklis, who is a liaison for Gun Tote'n Mamas with the military and law enforcement, brought this museum to Gun Toten'n Mamas' attention. Krauklis has earned several firearm instructor certifications – notably from the United States Concealed Carry Association and the National Rifle Association. She said, "Having served for 20 years, it's great to see an organization whose sole purpose is to preserve and share the contributions of women soldiers from the past, present and well into the future. I am proud to have served and been a part of the legacy."
