CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Office of Budget and Management (OBM) have launched a new impact dashboard for the City of Chicago ARPA Information Hub. This website, which serves as a transparency platform for the City's Road to Recovery ARPA Plan, features an interactive heat map and a comprehensive set of program metrics and demographic indicators that provide valuable insights into Chicago's communities.

The ARPA Impact Dashboard showcases the measurable outcomes of several high-impact programs that have been made possible through the City's Road to Recovery Plan. Some key results include over 45,000 residents receiving critical mental health services through the Mental Health Equity Initiative, 12,646 youth gaining valuable work experience through summer employment programs, and 6,729 families with newborns benefiting from in-home nurse visits through the Family Connects Program. Additionally, 1,884 households have secured stable housing through the Rapid Rehousing Program and 5,335 local artists have received financial support through the Artist Relief & Works Fund.

Mayor Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for this new dashboard, stating that it "tells the story of how public dollars are being used to meet public needs - boldly and transparently." He also emphasized that it reflects his administration's values of investing in marginalized communities and demonstrating responsible governance. The Mayor believes that these federal funds will help make Chicago the safest and most affordable big city in America.

This dashboard is an extension of the existing features on the City's ARPA Information Hub, which was first launched in October 2024. It includes interactive financial dashboards and detailed information on all 50 community programs. The addition of impact data further highlights the transformative reach and impact of the Road to Recovery Plan in neighborhoods across Chicago.

In July 2024, Mayor Johnson released a Performance Report outlining how $1.887 billion in ARPA funds were strategically used to uplift vulnerable communities and advance recovery efforts. This report highlighted the progress made during the first full year of the Johnson administration's oversight. Now, as the two-year anniversary of the Johnson administration approaches, this milestone marks a new era of transparency and accountability. It provides direct public access to the impact of ARPA investments made under Mayor Johnson's leadership.

For the first time, Chicagoans can explore detailed information on ARPA spending and track both financial progress and measurable outcomes of ARPA-funded programs in their communities. The website is updated quarterly and has reported that the City reached 100% obligation by December 31, 2024, in accordance with grant requirements.

Budget Director Annette Guzman stated that this dashboard was designed to be transparent, accessible, and useful for tracking programmatic progress and building trust in public fund investments. She believes it is a powerful tool that allows residents to see firsthand the results of the Road to Recovery Plan in their communities.

Some key features of the ARPA Impact Dashboard include the ability to filter information by policy pillar and program, as well as geographically by community, ward, and zip code. It also includes a "Total Served" indicator that shows the total number of people served overall or by policy pillar, program, or geographic area. Additionally, an interactive heat map displays both the number of people served and the location of place-based investments.

The City of Chicago ARPA Information Hub impact dashboard will be updated quarterly with the latest impact data. All underlying source data, including financial data, will also be updated quarterly and made publicly available through the City's Open Data Portal.

Residents can explore this new Impact Dashboard at Chicago.gov/ARPA and access full ARPA datasets on the Open Data Portal at data.chicago.gov. This initiative marks a significant step towards transparency and accountability in how public funds are being used to support Chicago's communities on their Road to Recovery.
