NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 11:14 a.m. on Jan. 13, Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a phone call for a structure fire in the residential building located in the 1300 block of Royal St. George Dr. Naperville 911(PSAP) immediately dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel, including an incident commander and incident safety officer, to the reported address and advised all occupants to evacuate the building.
The first unit arrived on scene at 11:20 a.m. and reported nothing showing and that all occupants were out of the home upon initial size-up of the building. Upon investigation a small fire on the exterior wall of the home was found and quickly extinguished within five minutes of the arrival of the initial vehicle. Suppression units on scene immediately began to ventilate and initiate overhaul efforts to expose any hidden fire or areas of high heat. A construction worker on scene stated heating materials from their equipment started the exterior vinyl siding of the home on fire. There was no extension into the interior of the home, the home was deemed habitable and occupants were allowed back in. The fire was ruled as accidental in nature.
