~ Naperville Police Department Joins State-Wide Efforts to Reduce Speeding
In an effort to make the roads safer for all motorists, the Naperville Police Department has announced a partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), the Illinois State Police, and over 200 local law enforcement agencies. This collaboration aims to increase state-wide enforcement efforts to reduce speeding.
Throughout the month of July, drivers can expect to see an increase in patrols as officers will be on the lookout for speeding and other traffic violations. According to Naperville Police Sergeant Derek Zook, speeding poses a significant danger on the roads.

"Speeding greatly reduces a driver's ability to safely navigate around other vehicles, hazardous objects, or unexpected curves," Sgt. Zook stated. "This not only puts the speeding driver at risk but also their passengers and other motorists."
To combat this issue, officers will be intensifying their enforcement of posted speed limits during this blitz. Sgt. Zook emphasized that offenders will be stopped and ticketed, especially on major arterial roadways where most speed-related crashes occur.
The ultimate goal of this speed enforcement effort is to save lives. This initiative is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT. The Naperville Police Department urges all drivers to obey posted speed limits and help make the roads safer for everyone.
