~ At 10:04 a.m. on June 24, 2024, the Naperville Police Department and Naperville Fire Department received a call about a traffic crash with injuries at the intersection of S. Naper Boulevard and Heatherfield Circle. According to the 9-1-1 caller, a construction worker had been hit by a vehicle.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that the victim, a subcontractor working on a City of Naperville project, was not breathing. The victim, identified as a 55-year-old male from Addison, Illinois, received CPR from both officers and fire department personnel. He was then transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The vehicle involved in the crash was a silver 2007 Kia Portage driven by a 74-year-old female from Mazon, Illinois.
Due to the severity of the incident, traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit were called to investigate. The intersection remained closed until approximately 2:30 p.m.
City Manager Doug Krieger expressed his condolences for the victim's family and loved ones. He also emphasized that employee and contractor safety is their top priority and that they are fully supporting their staff and police department in conducting a thorough investigation into this tragedy.
The investigation into this traffic crash is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.
