NAPERVILLE, IL — On Monday, July 26, 2021 at approximately 3:34 PM, the Naperville Police Department and Fire Department responded to the area of Washington Street and Royce Road for a vehicle crash involving a 2007 Black Honda motorcycle driven by a 29-year-old male out of Naperville and a 2001 Silver Dodge Durango driven by a 54-year-old female out of Bolingbrook. The initial investigation determined the Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound in the left thru lane of Washington Street while the Dodge Durango was turning eastbound onto Royce Road from southbound Washington Street. Both vehicles collided in the intersection.

The motorcyclist was transported to Edward Hospital with life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased soon after arriving at the hospital. Due to the nature of the incident, accident investigators and traffic crash reconstruction specialists from the Naperville Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene. Washington Street was closed from Boughton Road to Naper Boulevard and traffic was rerouted until the roadway was reopened at approximately 8:30 PM.
The crash investigation is on-going.
