RIVERDALE, Ill. - illiNews -- LISC, in collaboration with Cook County Bureau of Economic Development and Cook County Arts, announced that Riverdale Park District is one of 14 nonprofit organizations selected to receive Creative Placemaking grants. The grants, ranging from $50,000 to $250,000, will support transformative, community-driven art projects across suburban Cook County, including public murals, community gardens, arts centers, and more.
The Riverdale Park District received $62,520 for the creation of ArtSPARK Community Garden, a hub for individuals of all ages to enjoy immersive experiences in gardening and art. The garden will feature ADA-compliant raised beds and paths, pollinator gardens, and seating. The gallery will showcase local artists and include wooden walls for community-created murals. There will also be chalk-art areas, as well as a dedicated space for art instruction and workshops.
