CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson had a busy weekend, attending various events and meetings to engage with the community and discuss important issues. On Saturday morning, Mayor Johnson visited Washington Heights to attend Alderman Ronnie Mosley's Monthly Town Hall. The purpose of the town hall was to gather feedback from constituents on the Protecting Chicago Budget proposal.
During the town hall, Mayor Johnson spoke about his commitment to passing a budget that does not burden working people. He emphasized that the budget proposal was a result of multiple conversations with various communities in Chicago, including young people and residents from different parts of the city.
After the town hall, Mayor Johnson made a stop at Cynthia's Gumbo Express Inc., a local business that had previously received a $32,000 Community Development Grant from the City of Chicago. The mayor discussed the challenges faced by small businesses due to federal policies and tariffs with the owners.
