Featuring as part of the Nowhere Collective "Trashy Market" Exhibit, highlighting innovative art through reclaimed materials
CHICAGO - illiNews -- Janie Flores, founder of Janie's Art Journals, has been selected to showcase her handcrafted, sustainable journals at the inaugural Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival, taking place May 1-3, 2026. Flores will be featured as part of the Nowhere Collective "Trashy Market" Exhibit, a curated installation spotlighting artists who transform discarded materials into compelling, design-forward works.
Janie's Art Journals is known for its distinctive approach to paper art by repurposing discarded books, packaging, and textiles into unique journals designed for both art and reflection. What began as a personal creative practice rooted in healing has grown into a mission driven brand centered on sustainability and creative reuse.

"Each journal tells a story, not just in its pages, but in the materials themselves," said Janie Flores, founder of Janie's Art Journals. "To bring this work to a world stage at the Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival is an honor. Being part of Nowhere Collective's 'Trashy Market' Exhibit celebrates the beauty of reclaiming what others might overlook and transforming it into something meaningful."
Flores' inclusion in the Nowhere Collective "Trashy Market" Exhibit underscores a growing movement of artists redefining waste as a valuable creative resource. In 2025 alone, Janie's Art Journals repurposed more than 3,000 book pages, reused over 300 pieces of cardboard packaging, upcycled over 300 junk mail envelopes, and created functional works of art, demonstrating how individual creative practices can make a meaningful environmental impact.
Attendees of the Fiber+Fabric Craft Festival will have the opportunity to experience Janie's Art Journals firsthand, explore the textures and stories behind each piece, purchase original works from participating artists, and engage with a growing community committed to sustainability and innovation.
