The opposition filed by GOAT.com seeks to block GSC's trademark application for GOAT SKIN CHICAGO, a mark that symbolizes a new category of luxury apparel. But for the founder behind GSC, the case is about far more than legal filings.
"This is 1 man versus a billion-dollar company and a billion-dollar law firm," a GSC spokesperson said. "GOAT.com is essentially a digital thrift shop for sneakers and streetwear, including worn and recycled apparel. Much of that streetwear is made from polyester, rayon, and plastic-based fabrics — the hallmarks of disposable fashion. GOAT SKIN CHICAGO represents the opposite: sovereign wear. Our garments are identified with Floating Flower Jade, crafted from organic cotton, silks, and cashmere. We are building permanence, not resale hype."
