Energy-Independent Coastal Infrastructure for Emergency Response and Drone Operations

CHICAGO - illiNews -- eVertiSKY has launched Safety Island, a modular coastal unit designed for shoreline emergency response, drone-assisted rescues, and autonomous environmental monitoring. Built for public safety agencies, municipal planners, and infrastructure operators, the system provides energy-independent, rapidly deployable support in high-risk or remote coastal zones.

Designed by Giancarlo Zema, Chief of Architecture and Design at eVertiSKY, each Safety Island is fully autonomous and requires no external grid connection or communication infrastructure. With a 20-square-meter footprint, it functions as a compact emergency node, integrating monitoring, medical response, and drone capabilities into a single off-grid platform. "Safety Island was developed as a deployable node for drone logistics and coastal intervention," said Zema. "The infrastructure operates independently and can be integrated into broader urban mobility systems."

The unit combines multiple systems to ensure continuous readiness. Photovoltaic and wind power sustain internal and external functionality. A secure first aid room includes a treatment bed and medical supplies, while an outdoor-access defibrillator supports on-site cardiac response. Electrically propelled aquatic drones remain on standby for rapid sea rescues, capable of autonomous deployment in emergencies. On the rooftop, a Vertistop platform enables the launch and recovery of surveillance and delivery drones. All systems are remotely operable and designed for seamless integration into existing public safety frameworks.

This architecture supports a wide range of municipal use cases: reinforcing lifeguard services, expanding surveillance coverage, delivering emergency payloads to inaccessible areas, and providing temporary infrastructure in disaster-prone or off-grid locations.

Giuseppe Carusi, Chairman of eVertiSKY, emphasized the focus on practical deployment: "Safety Island addresses three critical requirements—deployment flexibility, emergency readiness, and data integration. It gives municipalities and public agencies an operational tool, not just a concept."

For city planners, and safety teams, the platform delivers clear operational benefits. It functions independently of external utilities, supports modular deployment along coastlines, and reduces operating costs through autonomous systems. The infrastructure complies with safety and regulatory protocols and is fully compatible with the eSkyBridge platform for telemetry, billing, oversight, and municipal command and control capabilities.

eVertiSKY has partnered with ABZERO, a UAV logistics provider for plasma and critical medical supplies, and SAFESEA, a specialist in aquatic drone rescue technology. These collaborations ensure Safety Island delivers field-ready solutions aligned with emergency response and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) expansion.

Beyond emergency response, Safety Island contributes to UAM development by offering municipalities a testbed for real-world integration, supporting simulation and validation of drone deployment protocols. This aligns with eVertiSKY's broader mission to deliver modular, software-defined infrastructure that strengthens public safety and prepares cities for smart mobility readiness.
