Countryside Day School Brings AMI Montessori Teacher Training to Illinois!

NORTHBROOK, Ill. - illiNews -- This summer, Countryside Day School in Northbrook will take a major step forward in advancing Montessori education in the region. In partnership with the Montessori Center of Minnesota, the school will host two AMI Blended Diploma Courses—one for Infant/Toddler (0–3) and one for Primary (3–6)—at its North Lodge facility, beginning in June 2025.

Countryside, a trusted name in Montessori education for 58 years, is now the only school in Illinois collaborating directly with an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training center to provide on-site teacher education. The blended format combines online coursework with hands- on, in-person learning, offering an accessible and deeply enriching experience for aspiring Montessori educators.

"This is more than a course launch—it's an investment in the future of Montessori education," said Michele Aspinall, who recently stepped into the role of Head of School after 36 years of service at Countryside. "We're proud to support the growth of highly trained, passionate educators who will carry forward Dr. Montessori's work in schools across the Midwest."

AMI, founded by Dr. Maria Montessori herself, is recognized worldwide for setting the highest standard in Montessori teacher preparation. This initiative not only reflects Countryside's enduring commitment to mentorship and educational excellence but also fills a critical gap in the Midwest's access to AMI accredited training.
