CHICAGO, July 17, 2024 ~ As concerns about environmental sustainability continue to rise, RENEW by TRINITY, a pioneering housewares brand, is taking a planet-first approach to home décor and furnishings. The company recently unveiled its first collection at The Inspired Home Show in Chicago, showcasing artisan-crafted products made from reclaimed bamboo chopsticks. With a launch date of July 1st, RENEW aims to redefine the relationship between interior design and environmental responsibility.
According to RENEW, 1.5 billion single-use bamboo chopsticks are discarded every week around the world, resulting in a staggering 5.4 trillion annually. In response to this waste, the company has created a collection of multi-purpose cutting, prep, and serving boards that are responsibly made from 100% reclaimed chopsticks.
RENEW's focus on quality craftsmanship and mindful manufacturing not only minimizes their carbon footprint but also creates local jobs. The collection is designed and crafted at The Chop Shop, RENEW's sustainability studio located in North Texas. By upcycling discarded materials into functional and stylish housewares and home accessories, RENEW is addressing the issue of waste head-on.

Each product in the collection comes with detailed environmental impact metrics that showcase the number of chopsticks reclaimed and pounds of CO2 avoided during production. For example, their small Gather + Graze Serving Board reclaims 265 chopsticks and avoids 28.44 pounds of CO2 emissions.
CEO Cze-Chao Tam emphasizes that sustainability is at the core of RENEW's business model. "With RENEW, there is a huge opportunity to create real impact at scale," he says.
To source their bamboo chopsticks, RENEW has partnered with ChopValue, a certified B Corporation that specializes in "urban harvesting" single-use chopsticks from restaurants across the USA and Canada. This partnership not only reduces transportation-related CO2 emissions but also minimizes material and water waste. RENEW's technology, combined with ChopValue's innovative processing, transforms chopsticks into an engineered performance material.
