NAPERVILLE, Ill. — At 3:33 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, Naperville's Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call for smoke coming from a two-story townhouse. A General Alarm was dispatched for the possible structure fire. A General Alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances, two shift commanders, and 1 rescue vehicle.
While units were en route PSAP did receive an automatic fire alarm for the affected building. The first unit on scene, Battalion 2 reported smoke coming from the roof and spoke to neighboring residents. Upon the arrival of Engine 2 and Medic 2, they forced entry, established a water supply, conducted a primary and secondary search, and made an interior attack with a hand line to extinguish the fire in the attic. The affected unit was unoccupied and the rest of the residents for both adjacent units were evacuated. Once other fire companies arrived on the scene, they assisted with the extinguishment of the fire, performed salvage and overhaul, smoke removal, and extinguishment of any hidden fire. Both trucks were used to ventilate the roof and extinguish fire in roof and attic. Squad 9 was requested to the scene to establish a Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC). The fire was under control within thirty minutes of the initial 911 call.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Transportation, Engineering, and Development (TED), and Naperville Electric Department was on scene to cut power to the affected unit. The Bolingbrook FD and Darien-Woodridge FPD provided station coverage at our Station Two. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Naperville Fire Investigators are currently on scene to determine the cause of this fire. This residence was determined to be uninhabitable for the affected unit only.
