~ Naperville, IL - The City of Naperville, in collaboration with the Naperville Park District, is seeking input from community members regarding the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion. This important community asset, located between Sindt Woods and Naperville Jaycee Playground, has been a popular gathering spot for various events and occasions since its construction in 1987.
To gather feedback and understand how the space is currently being utilized, an online questionnaire has been made available to the public. The questionnaire will be open until October 9th and can be accessed through Polco, a civic engagement platform. It consists of fewer than 15 questions and takes approximately two minutes to complete.
According to the Riverwalk 2031 Master Plan, the Grand Pavilion spans 3,200 square feet and can accommodate up to 270 people with movable picnic tables. The amenities include electricity, a grill, and restrooms. However, due to its frequent and heavy use over the years, there have been concerns about its impact on the surrounding lawn.
Jan Erickson, chair of the Riverwalk Commission, expressed that many people have cherished memories at the Grand Pavilion for various events such as weddings, reunions, and corporate team building activities. She also acknowledged that there are some challenges that need to be addressed before any future improvements can be made.

"While construction wouldn't begin for several years, knowing what areas to focus on will help guide this project," said Erickson. "We understand that there are limited parking options and drainage issues in this area. Our goal is to create a more functional and vibrant pavilion for our community."
This is not the first time Naperville has utilized Polco for gathering public input. In previous years, it was used for the 2023 Community Survey and Public Art Survey in 2024. The results of this current questionnaire will be posted on the City's website in late October.
For those interested in participating in the questionnaire, it can be accessed at https://polco.us/scnn7p until October 9th. For any questions or concerns, individuals can email Andy Hynes at hynesa@naperville.il.us.
