~ Naperville, IL- A 19-year-old man from Chicago has been arrested on felony armed robbery charges following a shooting incident that occurred in April of this year. The Naperville Police launched an investigation into the incident and were able to make an arrest on July 24, 2024.
According to the initial report, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 1:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2500 block of Leach Drive after receiving a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, they found a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and has since been released. It was reported that two suspects had fled the scene before the police arrived.
Further investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects were known to each other prior to the incident. During the altercation, the suspects allegedly stole cash from the victim in addition to shooting him.

One of the suspects, who is a juvenile, was arrested on April 16 and charged with Aggravated Robbery with a Firearm, which is considered a Class 1 felony. However, Naperville Police obtained an arrest warrant for the second suspect identified as Kanyon J. Hardy, aged 19. Hardy was reportedly responsible for discharging the firearm during the incident.
On July 24, Hardy was apprehended by Forest Park Police and charged with three counts of Armed Robbery, all Class X felonies. The Naperville Police would like to remind both the public and media that these are merely accusations and Hardy is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
