Nation's largest association supporting tax professionals praises Congress for its work to resolve the issues holding up the passage of the Taxpayer First Act.
APPLETON, Wis. - illiNews -- The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) has supported the Taxpayer First Act [HR 3151], a bipartisan bill that has been in the legislative pipeline since it was introduced in early 2018. This piece of legislation holds the key to improving many taxpayers' experience with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), keeping their information more secure while also providing better customer services. Thus, all taxpayers will benefit from the recent efforts of, among others, the bill's sponsors Representative John Lewis (D-GA) and Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) to reach a compromise. NATP applauds today's vote by the House and encourages the Senate to do same with the hope that the bill will soon reach the President's desk.
