PLANO, Texas, June 18, 2024 ~ Pizza Hut® has announced its latest menu innovation, the Chicago Tavern-Style Pizza, along with a major transformation of their toppings menu. This marks the biggest overhaul of toppings in over a decade for the popular pizza chain. Pizza Hut is proud to be the first global pizza chain to offer a Tavern Pizza, as well as being the first global QSR pizza brand to offer Chicken Sausage, Pesto Swirl and Spicy Sauce as permanent topping options.
Under the leadership of Rachel Antalek, Pizza Hut's new Chief Food Innovation Officer, the brand is ushering in a new era with the addition of this thin-crust style and unique toppings. These new offerings are now available on menus nationwide.
The tavern-style pizza originated in Chicago in the 1930s and quickly became a favorite among patrons of local taverns. The thin-crust style was often served in squares by bartenders as a way to entice customers to stay longer. In recent years, this style has gained popularity among pizza lovers of all ages for its crispy texture and shareable size. Pizza Hut's take on this classic style offers a modern twist with four delicious recipes: Pesto Margherita, The Ultimate, Spicy Chicken Sausage, and Double Pepperoni.
