~ The Naperville Police Department has announced that they are now accepting applications for their upcoming Youth Academy, set to take place this summer. The six-week academy will begin on May 29, 2025 and will continue every Thursday night until July 10, with the exception of the week of July 4. All sessions will be held at the Naperville Police Department from 6 to 8 p.m.
According to the department, the Youth Academy aims to provide teenagers with a better understanding of the inner workings of the Naperville Police Department and an opportunity to engage with officers in a positive environment. The program will consist of classes, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations covering various topics such as police patrol operations, canines, investigations, special response teams, and forensics.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as space is limited and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To be eligible for the academy, applicants must currently be in high school or entering high school in the fall of 2025 and either reside or attend high school in Naperville. They must also have parental permission and transportation to and from the police department and have no criminal contacts.
Those interested in applying can find the application and waiver on the city's website at www.naperville.il.us/cpa. The completed documents must be returned by Wednesday, May 21, 2025 to Sergeant Mike McLean via email at mcleanm@naperville.il.us or through mail or in person at the Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Ave., Naperville IL 60540.
