CHICAGO - illiNews -- Federal Consultant and Chicago native Ebony Karim has recently been named the newest board member of the North Kenwood Oakland Advisory Council, Education Committee (NKO-AC). This appointment comes shortly after Karim's announcement to relocate her imprint to The Windy City.

As a board member of the NKO-AC's Education Committee, Ebony will create advance the education system by creating educational opportunities. Some of the committee's primary focuses include:

❖ Participate in NKO Local School Council (attend meetings or serve as a volunteer)

❖ Improve academic continuity for NKO children 4th - 8th grade and Highschool (Expand Robinson Elementary, Re-Open Price Elementary, extend KA or Phillips boundaries)

❖ Connect with Bronzeville CPS Community Action Council (CAC)

Karim is hoping to make a huge impact in the Chicagoland area stating, "I hope to blend my knowledge and expertise from the STEM program I cultivated for Bowie State and provide urban stem to underserved students in the K-12 population and to provide innovative insight to create STEM opportunities for the students in the Chicagoland area."

Before relocating to her native Chicago, Ebony has made impactful strides in the Maryland education system with Embarkus Project, educating students in grades 6-12 in cybersecurity in partnership with the US Department of Defense. She is also a long-time education partner of the HBCU, Bowie State.

Ebony's tenure begins in Q3, 2022.
