NORTHBROOK, Ill. - illiNews -- Off-body doesn't mean you have to wear a funky fanny pack like Grandpa wears. Women who carry concealed firearms aren't all wearing on-body holsters, nor do they want to. In fact, in a recent survey, conducted by one of the nation's premiere training organizations for women – A Girl and A Gun Women's Shooting League – 27.4% of the women who responded carry off-body.
Here are some of the main reasons women carry off-body:

Here are some of the main reasons women carry off-body:
- They cannot carry or draw from a holster on their bodies. Women might encounter a few "bumps in the road" while deciding how to carry a concealed firearm, too – such as creative curves, disabilities and pregnant bellies.
- They are wearing evening gowns or dresses that will not accommodate any type of holster other than one that fits between their legs. Awkward. You can buy concealed-carry clutches with wrist straps.
- For carrying in vehicles, they can set their designated bags or purses on the floors or seats next to them. No need to unholster their firearms and put them somewhere else (unless a state requires it). And also, it's difficult with some holster set-ups to redress in a parking lot or re-holster in the car.
- They might choose to wear more trendy clothing that might include spandex or tight-fitting fabric, and so it's time to look for a cross-body purse, little pack or other type of carry bag because printing is not cool.
- They are actively engaged in a sport, such as running or walking
