~ The Naperville Police Department has announced that they are now accepting applications for their upcoming 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA). The program, which is set to begin on March 5, aims to give citizens a deeper understanding of the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives.
According to Police Chief Jason Arres, the academy will consist of classroom lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations covering various aspects of police work such as patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response. The course will meet every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Ave. until May 7.
Chief Arres also stated that participants are often surprised by how much they learn about the department and the services they provide. He added that the academy allows individuals to get a firsthand experience of what it takes to serve and protect a community.

Due to limited space and the nature of the course content and activities, only 30 participants will be accepted. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either reside or work in the City of Naperville. Applications will be considered on a first-come-first-served basis and all applicants will undergo a criminal background check.
Interested individuals can find the Citizen Police Academy application and waiver on the city's website at www.naperville.il.us/cpa. The completed documents must be submitted no later than Friday, Jan. 31, 2025 to Jim Pacetti via email at PacettiJ@naperville.il.us or through fax or mail at (630)305-7004 or Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Avenue in Naperville.
