~ The Naperville Police Department has announced that they are now accepting applications for their upcoming 10-week Citizen Police Academy (CPA). The program, which is set to begin on March 5, aims to give citizens a deeper understanding of the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives.
According to Police Chief Jason Arres, the academy will consist of classroom lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on demonstrations covering various aspects of police work such as patrol, investigations, forensics, and special response. The course will meet every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Naperville Police Department located at 1350 Aurora Ave. until May 7.
Chief Arres also stated that participants are often surprised by how much they learn about the department and the services they provide. He added that the academy allows individuals to get a firsthand experience of what it takes to serve and protect a community.
