The Naperville Police and Fire departments responded to a serious traffic crash at the intersection of Washington Street and Naper Boulevard at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019. The crash involved a 2006 Hyundai driven by 64-year-old female out of Bolingbrook and a 2015 Nissan driven by a 61-year-old male with a 59-year-old female passenger out of Lisle.
The initial investigation indicates that the Nissan was traveling southbound on Naper Boulevard when it was struck by the Hyundai, which was traveling northbound on Naper Boulevard in the southbound lanes. All parties were transported from the scene with serious injuries. One of individuals involved has since succumbed to their injuries.

Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene. During the initial investigation, a portion of the intersection of Washington Street and Naper Boulevard was closed and rerouted until approximately 12:38 p.m.
The Naperville Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information regarding the accident to contact the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
