Naperville, Ill. -- On Thursday March 11, 2021, at approximately 4:00 PM the Naperville Police Department initiated an investigation into an attempt child luring incident that occurred in the 300 block of N. Washington Street. The incident had occurred at approximately 2:40 PM. A juvenile Naperville resident was walking northbound on Washington Street north of Spring Street. The driver of a white panel van then initiated a conversation with the child. The driver of the panel van appeared to be the only occupant, and was described as a male, white, approximately 20-30 years of age, medium length messy brown hair, unshaven and no noticeable accent. The driver spoke to the juvenile through the passenger side window of the van and instructed the child to get into the van. The child continued home at which time the police were contacted. With the delay, Naperville Police were unable to locate any vehicles matching the description in the area after receiving the call. A community alert and social media messages were disseminated to initially alert the community about the incident. Naperville School District 203 was notified, and extra patrol is being provided to the area after school and will continue going forward.
