NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at approximately 11:26 p.m., the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a frantic 911 call reporting a car on fire inside a residential garage on Devonshire Court. The ECC immediately sprang into action and dispatched a General Alarm Assignment to the scene.
The assignment consisted of three engines, two ladder trucks, two medic units, one heavy rescue, and two battalion commanders. Upon arrival, the first responders completed a thorough survey of the structure and provided an initial report to establish command.
According to reports from the responding units, there was smoke and an active fire in the attached garage of the residential structure. Thankfully, all occupants of the residence were safely evacuated before the fire could spread. Fire suppression teams quickly deployed handlines to extinguish the flames and conducted ventilation operations to clear out any remaining smoke.

During their search of the occupancy for any signs of fire extension or potential life safety concerns, firefighters also discovered two dogs and a cat inside. They were able to safely remove them from harm's way. Once the bulk of the fire was extinguished, crews continued to overhaul the area and put out any smoldering embers to ensure that there was no further danger.
Assisting agencies including the Naperville Police Department, Naperville Electric Department, Nicor, and Bolingbrook Fire Department were also present at the scene. The estimated damage to both the residence and its contents is around $150,000. The cause of this devastating fire is still under investigation.
Unfortunately, due to extensive damage caused by the fire, authorities have deemed that it is currently uninhabitable. However, there were no reported injuries to any civilians or firefighters involved in this incident. The swift response and coordinated efforts by all involved agencies helped contain this hazardous situation before it could escalate further.
