Naperville: Structure Fire in the 4300 Block of Clearwater Lane

NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - On Wednesday, Sept. 25, at approximately 2:32 p.m., the Naperville Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a call from a concerned bystander reporting a fire on the exterior of a single-family home. In response, the ECC dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of nine fire apparatus and 27 personnel, including an Incident Commander, Incident Safety Officer, and Division Chief to the reported address.

Five minutes later, at 2:37 p.m., the first vehicle arrived on scene to find visible smoke coming from the side of the home. Fire companies quickly assisted one resident out of the house and deployed a hose line to contain the fire. Fortunately, there was no extension of the fire into the interior of the home and all damage was contained to the exterior. Within minutes, the blaze was under control.

The Naperville Fire Department was supported by both the Naperville Police Department and Naperville Electric Department on scene. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported for any occupants or firefighters during their operations.

After ensuring that all hot spots were extinguished, fire companies remained on scene for an additional 30 minutes before declaring it safe for residents to return to their homes. The estimated cost of damages is approximately $15,000.

The Naperville Fire Department has deemed that the building is still habitable despite the damages caused by this incident. As investigations continue into what caused this fire, residents are reminded to always be vigilant and report any potential hazards immediately to prevent similar incidents in the future.
