CHICAGO, March 28, 2024 ~ Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is gearing up to host two exciting and free events on Thursday, April 4, 2024. These events are aimed at prospective students and their families who are eager to explore the various pathways to a quality education and abundant academic opportunities, including scholarships.
The first event, an Open House, will be held at NEIU and is designed to help students discover all the opportunities that the university has to offer. This event will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. and then again from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the NEIU Student Union. Prospective students can expect to learn about the university's 90 undergraduate and certificate programs, graduate degrees, as well as student clubs and organizations.
"We are excited to provide these resources for students during our Open House," said NEIU Interim President Dr. Katrina E. Bell-Jordan. "As a Hispanic-Serving and Minority Serving Institution, Northeastern is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and economic mobility through a quality education. We are committed to empowering our diverse community of students by providing an excellent, affordable learning environment."
Simultaneously, NEIU will also be hosting the Midwest's first National College Resources Foundation (NCRF) Latino College Expo in the NEIU P.E. Complex from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. This educational event aims to expand college and career access for Latinx students by providing access to over 40 colleges and universities.

"We are proud to partner with the National College Resources Foundation for this highly regarded educational program," said Dr. Bell-Jordan. "This expo aligns with our mission of promoting diversity and providing opportunities for academic success."
The NCRF Latino College Expo will also feature networking opportunities with local community organizations and businesses, as well as bilingual Spanish/English college and career access seminars. Students can also take advantage of waived application fees, scholarships, and on-the-spot acceptances from select colleges.
The Latino College Expo™ has a mission to guide high school and adult learners to their ideal college home and help college transfer students transition to a four-year institution. This event is open to individuals of all ethnic backgrounds who are interested in expanding access to college and careers.
In addition to these informative events, NEIU will also offer free parking on the 4th and 5th floors of the Parking Facility. Attendees can also enjoy complimentary food and drinks, campus tours, giveaways, and live entertainment for the whole family.
