The OCI Screening Events Include a Second Chance Event for Parents of the Elmhurst District at Sandburg Middle School. Event Date and Location Announcements are Going to Parents in Twenty-Eight Suburban School Districts from Far North to Far South.
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - illiNews -- Oral Cancer Initiative Free Screening Events are part of their threefold approach to attach Oral Cancer across the country: Awareness, Free Screening Events, and Certified Dentist Referrals.
OCI Free Screening Event announcements, through participating school districts around the country, will bring awareness to thousands of parents in an area at a time, even if only a few hundred come to be screened at each local event. Schools and their parents are core influencers in our cities. These events bring Free Screening not to just parents but to the whole community. A recent survey showed that less than a third of dentists offer Oral Cancer screening as part of a regular exam and the OCI hopes the awareness they are bringing to this terrible disease will draw more dentists into the fold. Oral Cancer kills one person an hour in this country and has past Leukemia for the number of new cases in the US per year.

The OCI's third approach to fighting Oral Cancer is a free referral network of certified dentists across the country that offer free screening with an office visit. This has been in the planning stages for months and thanks to a few of the corporate sponsors in the dental arena, they will release it next year.
The following cities are where the schools are located for the January events: Vernon Hills, Hoffman Estates, Park Ridge, Elmhurst, Naperville, Oak Park, Oak Lawn, and Orland Park.
The Oral Cancer Initiative is a for profit organization raising funds for Oral Cancer research and support of local and national not for profit organizations in the fight against Oral Cancer.
