In a first-of-its-kind air delivery, Phox Health partnered with UW Medicine and Alaska Airlines to move high-value specialty medications from Seattle to Spokane without hub delays, cutting hours off traditional routes, reducing cold chain waste, and completing the last mile to the patient's door.
IRVINE, Calif. - illiNews -- Phox Health today announced the successful completion of its first direct-to-patients air shipment of specialty medications, redefining how pharmacy delivery can reach patients. On September 4, a container of high-value specialty medications departed a UW Medicine pharmacy in Seattle and arrived at patients' homes in Spokane in just sixty-one minutes. Alaska Airlines carried the cargo across the state, with Phox's medical couriers completing the final mile directly to each patient's doorstep.

"We're thankful for UW Medicine's trust in helping us operationalize this company first," said Dr. Amit Gir, CEO and Co-founder, Phox Health. "It's proof that we can change both how safe and how fast patients get their treatments."
Unlike traditional carrier routes, which send high-value specialty drugs through major hubs in Memphis or Louisville and add hours of risk, the Phox Health approach bypasses these detours entirely. By flying direct, Phox Health ensured specialty medications arrived faster and with greater reliability.
"We also want to thank Alaska Airlines for its commitment to dependable, pharmaceutical-grade air freight," added Gir. "The only thing missing was in-flight meal service," Gir joked.
The service, known as SkyPhox First Class, was designed to cut transit times in order to reduce excessive cold chain packaging. The result is less Styrofoam, cardboard, and gel packs and more confidence that temperature-sensitive medications reach patients intact and on time.

For patients, the benefit is immediate: instead of waiting days for treatments to clear cross-country hubs, medication now arrives within hours. This enables faster starts to care, stronger adherence, and peace of mind that critical medications will not be delayed or spoiled.
The Seattle-to-Spokane milestone marks only the beginning. Phox Health plans to expand same-day air deliveries nationwide through additional airline partnerships, while its SkyPhox Business Class service already powers next-day service between specialty pharmacies across the country.
