On the anniversary of the 1969 Days of Rage, Shane Bugbee releases a radical cookbook inspired by the rebellious spirit of Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
CHICAGO - illiNews -- Fifty-five years ago, Chicago erupted with the fury of the Days of Rage, as young revolutionaries took to the streets to oppose the Vietnam War. This year, on the anniversary of those protests, underground artist and provocateur Shane Bugbee is launching Bomb Ass Recipes from the Kitchen of Bernardine Dohrn & Bill Ayers—a cookbook that serves up a side of rebellion with every dish.
Known for his controversial projects like Cooking with a Serial Killer, Bugbee's latest work invites readers into the kitchen of two of America's most notorious activists. The cookbook is more than just recipes; it's a blend of personal stories, radical ideologies, and rare memorabilia, all linked to the counterculture icons of the Weather Underground.

"Bernardine and Bill's legacy goes beyond their radical past," says Bugbee. "They represent a generation's anger, resilience, and creativity. This cookbook captures that spirit and brings it to life in a way that's accessible to a new generation of thinkers and activists."
Launching on Indiegogo, the campaign offers rare, one-of-a-kind items, such as memorabilia from Ayers and Dohrn's personal collection, kitchen tools, and even bookmarks handmade from Ayers' professor's gown. Each item is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, making it an invaluable addition to any collector's archive of American radical history.
The launch date was specifically chosen to coincide with the Days of Rage, marking an important moment in American history when the Weather Underground challenged the establishment and captured the attention of a nation. This project aims to keep that spirit alive while raising funds for Bugbee's new independent publishing house, Ink Flower Fun Fountain.
