Launching with a premier headlining performance by St. Louis-based indie-folk artist Beth Bombara on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
BERWYN, Ill. - illiNews -- The Friendly Music Community, a cornerstone of the Roosevelt Road arts corridor, is proud to announce the official branding and launch of its most intimate performance space: The Friendly Listening Room. To celebrate this new chapter, the venue will host a premier headlining performance by St. Louis-based indie-folk artist Beth Bombara on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
The Friendly Listening Room represents a shift toward an intimate concert experience designed for artists and audiences who crave deep musical connection. Prior to being dubbed a listening room, the space has hosted concerts by Pat MacDonald (Timbuk3), Wussy Duo, Jon Langford, Blake Christiana (Yarn), and Voicebox with Cathy Richardson. While the larger Friendly Community continues to host vibrant, high-energy local shows, the Friendly Listening Room will offer a curated, 50-capacity environment where every note is heard and every lyric felt.

"We've always been a community built on the love of the craft," says Rob Pierce, founder for the community. "By branding this space as The Friendly Listening Room, we are signaling to both the Near West Suburbs and the greater Chicago music scene that there is a home here for world-class, attentive listening."
Beth Bombara, known for her "vintage folk and electric roots-rock" (LPR), is the ideal artist to inaugurate the room. Touring behind her latest acclaimed work, Bombara's performances are noted for their sonic depth and emotional honesty. This rare, small-room appearance offers fans an opportunity to see a festival-level artist in a setting with the intimacy of a private house concert that is adjacent to the Friendly Coffee Lounge and Friendly Bar (formerly Friendly Tap), plus many nearby eateries.
Event Details:
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sunday, March 15, at www.friendlymusic.community. Due to the limited capacity of the room, early purchase is strongly encouraged.
