~ Samyang Corporation, a leading food ingredient company, is making strides in promoting its specialty ingredients and expanding its presence in international markets. The company's CEO, Nag-hyun Choi, announced their participation in the International Food Technology Expo IFT 2024, which will be held in Chicago, USA from July 15 to 17.
The IFT expo, organized by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), is the largest food technology event in the world with over 1,300 companies from more than 100 countries participating. This will be Samyang Corp's latest effort to showcase their high-functional ingredients to a global audience.
Prior to this expo, Samyang Corp had already made appearances at several other major food exhibitions this year. In March, they promoted their specialty ingredients at the Natural Products Expo West (NPEW) 2024. In May, they participated in the International Food Ingredients & Additives (IFIA) Exhibition and Conference 2024 in Japan. And most recently, they were present at the Seoul International Food Industry Exhibition 2024 in June.

At these events, Samyang Corp focused on highlighting two of their key ingredients - Allulose and Resistant dextrin. They provided tasting samples of various products made with these ingredients to give visitors a better understanding of their potential uses. These included sugar-free keto ice cream with reduced calories using Allulose and increased dietary fiber content using Resistant Dextrin, as well as plant-based jelly and protein bars.
Allulose is a natural sugar found in figs and grapes that provides about 70% of the sweetness of regular sugar but with almost zero calories. This makes it an ideal alternative sweetener for those looking to reduce their sugar intake. Samyang Corp has been producing liquid Allulose since 2016 using their proprietary enzyme technology and began mass production at their Ulsan plant last year. In 2021, they launched their B2B brand Nexweet®, which stands for "next-generation healthy sweetener," as they expand into the global market.

Resistant dextrin, on the other hand, is a soluble dietary fiber that offers various health benefits such as aiding in smooth bowel movements, controlling blood sugar levels, and improving blood triglyceride levels. Samyang Corp saw the potential synergy between this functional ingredient and Allulose and has been producing liquid and powdered Resistant dextrin under the brand name Fiberest®, which means "the best among dietary fibers."
CEO Nag-hyun Choi stated, "In the U.S., there is a growing demand for products that are not only low in sugar and calories but also high in dietary fiber content. We believe our solutions using Allulose and Resistant dextrin will be well-received by potential customers." He also added that Samyang Corp plans to actively participate in more global food exhibitions to expand their presence in overseas markets.
Looking ahead, Samyang Corp has plans to showcase their superior food ingredient technology at upcoming events in the second half of this year. These include Health ingredients (Hi) in Japan, SupplySide West (SSW), and Food ingredients North America in the U.S. With their consistent efforts to promote their specialty ingredients and expand into international markets, Samyang Corporation is poised for continued success in the food industry.
