CHICAGO, May 22, 2025 ~ Chicago-based company, Sciaky, Inc., has recently announced the shipment of their latest Electron Beam Welding machine, the VX-300. This state-of-the-art machine is set to be delivered in May 2025 and will be followed by two additional machines of similar design to overseas customers.
The VX-300 boasts an impressive chamber size of 300" x 110" x 110" and a work envelope of 250" x 42" x 60". Equipped with standard 5-axis CNC controls and EB welding capabilities, these machines also have the potential for additional CNC Axes and EBAM capability in the future. With a focus on the Aerospace and Semiconductor industries, these machines offer flexibility for any future business ventures that Sciaky's customers may acquire.
Sciaky has been making headlines for their advancements in Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing over the past decade. However, these recent contracts highlight their position as a world leader in Electron Beam Welding machines. Known for their medium and large-chamber moving gun EBW machines, Sciaky has installations both domestically in the US and internationally in industries such as Aerospace, Power Generation, Automotive, and Oil/Gas Exploration.

These new machines from Sciaky feature multi-axis heavy-duty capabilities with up to 42kW of beam power. The use of Sciaky's Electron Beam technology dates back to the early 1960s and has been trusted by EBW users for its precision and reliability in metal joining tasks.
According to Scott Phillips, CEO of Sciaky's parent company Phillips Service Industries, Inc., "We find that many in the industry are not aware that our EBAM platform is a truly dual-use technology. Each EBAM machine retains its full functionality as a CNC Electron Beam Welder, making it unique in both the Welding and Additive Manufacturing worlds." This feature has proven beneficial for many of Sciaky's clients when justifying their purchase of the machine.
In their Chicago manufacturing facility, Sciaky will have multiple machines of both capabilities in process. Their engineering staff is available to assist with application needs for both EBAM and EBW projects, ranging from equipment acquisition to prototypes, development, or one-of-a-kind production.
