LISLE, Ill. - illiNews -- The Science of Spirituality (SOS) Charitable Initiatives outreach programs are grounded in the doctrine of selfless service—a basic tenet of the organization. SOS has partnered with various groups such as the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Feed My Starving Children, the Humanitarian Service Project, Blessings in a Backpack, and the Sensory Garden Park, among others. The sole purpose is to serve the unmet needs of people across the Chicagoland area.
In June of 2019, the organization sponsored a group service event. Almost 100 members spent the morning packing fortified, vegetarian meals for undernourished children, in partnership with the international nonprofit, Feed My Starving Children.
A similar community service day took place in October in Joliet, Illinois when Science of Spirituality, together with members of the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB), boxed cans of green beans and corn for local food pantries across the state.
Science of Spirituality members also go into retirement communities, such as Harbor Chase in Naperville and Clare Oaks in Bartlett, to present programs for the residents. What better way to spread happiness than having young children sing and perform? SOS has received many heartfelt thank-you notes from the people at these facilities expressing how much these programs mean to them.

The Initiatives' programs have also helped kids with autism by supporting the Sensory Garden Park in Lisle, Illinois, an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of children on the autism spectrum.
The Humanitarian Service Project in Carol Stream, Illinois is another organization SOS has worked with, providing food, clothing, and other necessities for daily living. SOS members have organized toy drives and actively participated in many of the Senior Citizen Projects at HSP in order to help during economic hardships, providing seniors with the nutrition necessary for good health and well-being.
We are grateful for the impact the Charitable Initiatives Outreach Programs has had in our community. We hope to continue and to extend our service to all within reach. As we serve others in love and humility, we contribute to a kinder and more peaceful planet.
