NAPERVILLE, Ill. ~ Naperville, Illinois - The City of Naperville is calling on local teenage artists to showcase their talents and help beautify the community. In a recent press release, the city announced its invitation for submissions of original artwork to be used in wrapping six streetlight controller boxes near Naperville North and Naperville Central high schools.
The selected artwork will transform these utility boxes into eye-catching pieces of public art, adding a touch of creativity and vibrancy to the city's streets. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
According to the guidelines provided by the city, there is no cost for artists to submit their designs. The City will handle all printing and installation costs. Artists are encouraged to submit any type of artwork, including painting, graphic design, mixed media, or illustration as long as it meets the submission guidelines.
To be eligible for consideration, artists must be high school students between the ages of 13 and 18 who reside in Naperville. Only one submission per person is allowed. The artwork must measure 50 inches tall, 30 inches wide and 16.5 inches deep and should flow visually across all four sides of the box.

The preferred file format for submissions is Adobe Illustrator (vector graphics), but Adobe Photoshop files are also acceptable. All files should be sent as a JPG or PDF. It is important to note that political or profane artwork will not be accepted.
Interested artists can email their submissions to City Clerk Dawn Portner at portnerd@naperville.il.us. The submission should include the artist's name, age, school and contact information. Selected artists will be notified by Tuesday, May 20th and their designs will be installed by Monday, June 30th.

She also mentioned a previous successful collaboration with students from Neuqua Valley High School and their artwork displayed on or near 95th Street.
