CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has added some friendly competition to the upcoming Divisional Round game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Chicago Bears. In a challenge to Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, Mayor Johnson has proposed a wager that will add some extra excitement to the already highly anticipated match-up.

Under the terms agreed upon by both mayors, if the Bears come out victorious tonight, Chicago's very own Eli's Cheesecake will send a super-sized "Bear Down"-themed cheesecake to Los Angeles and Mayor Bass. However, if the Rams manage to secure a win, Los Angeles's Cielito Lindo will send some of their famous taquitos to Chicago.

"Chicago is known for our sports teams and our food scene, which is second-to-none," stated Mayor Johnson. "So while Chicagoans are enjoying the sweet taste of victory, Angelenos can drown their sorrows in some delicious cheesecake from one of our city's institutions. Bear down!"

Mayor Bass responded with confidence, saying, "While I am a big fan of Mayor Johnson and Chicago's food scene, he is mistaken if he thinks he'll be sending me an Eli's cheesecake after today's game. I can't wait to celebrate another Rams win and for Mayor Johnson to receive a big order of taquitos from L.A.'s famous Cielito Lindo. Go Rams!"

Eli's Cheesecake President Marc Schulman expressed his excitement at being chosen to represent Chicago in this friendly wager. He shared that 45 years ago, his father Eli Schulman created the signature dessert for his legendary restaurant, Eli's The Place For Steak. Since then, Eli's has been a part of many of Chicago's greatest moments, including when late Mayor Harold Washington brought Eli's Cheesecake to New Orleans to celebrate the Bears playing in the 1986 Super Bowl.

The tradition continues with this wager between Mayors Johnson and Bass, as they both hope to see their respective teams come out on top. The announcement of the wager was made in a video featuring both mayors, which can be viewed online.

As the city prepares for an exciting game between the Rams and the Bears, fans can also look forward to seeing which city's food will come out on top in this friendly competition.
