New program offers personalized, non-profit foreclosure prevention assistance to help struggling homeowners explore options and avoid losing their homes.
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - illiNews -- As foreclosure rates continue to climb nationwide, Foreclosure Rescue, a community-based housing support initiative, has launched a new program aimed at helping vulnerable homeowners navigate pre-foreclosure with practical solutions, education, and advocacy.
Founded on the principle that foreclosure is not a character flaw but a financial crisis that can often be prevented, Foreclosure Rescue provides no-cost, judgment-free assistance to homeowners facing missed mortgage payments, legal notices, or threats of eviction.
"Most homeowners in trouble don't need a miracle—they need someone who will listen, explain their rights, and guide them through their options," said David Litt, Executive Director of Foreclosure Rescue and a 26-year veteran in foreclosure prevention.
The new initiative includes one-on-one counseling, document preparation for loan modifications, education on forbearance programs, and referrals to government-approved legal and housing aid services. The organization also conducts local workshops and virtual sessions to raise awareness and empower families before they reach a crisis point.

According to recent data from ATTOM, foreclosure filings were up 10% in the first quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter. The economic aftershocks of the pandemic, inflation, and rising interest rates have left many households one financial emergency away from default.
"We created this program because we saw the fear people were carrying in silence," said Litt. "When people realize they don't have to go through this alone, they stop feeling hopeless—and start taking action."
Foreclosure Rescue operates independently of lenders and does not charge fees for services. Its mission is simple: keep families in their homes, when possible, and guide them with dignity when other options must be considered.
